Commitments to sustainable development

Being a benefit corporation involves a genuine commitment to the community and the environment. It also involves transparent reporting of the goals achieved and the actions still to be undertaken.

Given the awareness that we have to change our development model to prevent the environmental, social and economic crisis we are experiencing from carrying humanity over the brink into unavoidable disaster, it is clear that the path mapped out by the Agenda 2030 is the only one possible. The Agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) contain the main development factors for achieving a healthy, prosperous economy in the long term. Camst group views the Agenda 2030 as a clear framework for building a sustainable business model, and the SDGs are an important tool for developing the right approach to the creation of shared value. In the last few years we have got to grips with the sustainable development issues covered by the SDGs and tried to apply them to our organisational context through a process of prioritisation.
Among the 17 SDGs, Camst group has identified the ones to be prioritised in its commitments, consistent with its model and business objectives. In particular: SDG2 (Zero hunger), SDG3 (Good health and wellbeing), SDG6 (Clean water and sanitation), SDG7 (Affordable and clean energy), SDG9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), SDG12 (Responsible consumption and production), SDG13 (Climate action) and SDG17 (Partnerships for the goals). The Camst group’s commitment to the Agenda 2030 includes other SDGs, which involve organisational aspects and areas as preconditions for achieving the goals set out in the strategic plan: SDG4 (Quality education), SDG5 (Gender equality), SDG8 (Decent work and economic growth) and SDG10 (Reducing inequalities). The decision to become a benefit corporation marks an evolution in our path towards sustainability, as it sets out our commitments in no uncertain terms in our Articles of Association. Becoming a benefit corporation means extending the aims of mutual good intrinsic in a cooperative with objectives for the benefit of all, to enable responsible, sustainable, transparent operation in relation to our stakeholders. This is a genuine commitment, our pact with the community, which will be the subject of regular planning to report the objectives achieved and the actions to be taken for improvement.
