At school with Redea, the ultra smart and sustainable box

In collaboration with CPR System, Conor, Cirfood and the scientific coordination of the University of Bologna, Camst group initiated the use of Redean boxes in schools with the aim of reducing environmental impact starting with the transportation of raw materials.

In particular, much of the fruit and vegetable raw materials used to produce meals in school canteens in the Municipality of Bologna, the Municipality of Reggio Emiliaand in some plexuses of the Municipality of Modena are delivered with CPR System‘s Redea crates, with no more disposable packaging to dispose of, resulting in a positive impact on the environment.

The activity is structured in a similar way as in Organized Distribution. The Redea crates start from the CPR System company, arrive at Conor, which is the distribution center for raw materials in this process, and, from there, based on demand, the supply of products to the kitchens operated by Camst group and Cirfood starts. Then, after their use, the crates are returned empty to Conor to start a new cycle.

Redea’s virtuous cash management process is monitored by the Food Supply Chain Research Center of the University of Bologna, Department of Industrial Engineering. The Alma Mater has recently certified the significant reduction in environmental impact, attributable to climate-altering greenhouse gases, in Organized Distribution and is preparing to do so in Mass Catering as well, again applying the regulated Life Cycle Assessment ( LCA ) tool.

The entire logistic process will be perfectly circular without any packaging losses at the various handling stages, this is due to the smart features of the Redea crate. In fact, each one is managed by special bar code, which ensures traceability. Cooking centers and schools participating in the project can arrange, via an app, for the return of used crates.
